Watch Apollo 11
(2019)Using only archival footage and still photographs, this documentary presents the events surrounding the historic Apollo 11 space mission on its fiftieth anniversary. The footage begins with the last-minute preparations for the launch and ends with the safe return of the three astronauts to Earth. The mission was groundbreaking as it marked the first time humans set foot on the moon. It catapulted Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to household fame as the first and second men on the moon, while Mike Collins, the third astronaut who remained in the capsule, received slightly less recognition. The mission was considered highly risky, partly due to the astronauts' departure from the safety of the capsule.
