Watch Back to Bataan
(1945)U.S. Army Colonel Joseph Madden remained in the country after the Philippines fell to the Japanese in 1942 in order to plan local resistance to the invaders. To inspire resistance in a still, uncertain war, Madden called on Captain Andres Bonifacio, the grandson of the illustrious anti-American freedom fighter Andres Bonifacio, who was fortunate enough to be saved from a POW death march. Madden then responded with a brutal 10-to-1 crackdown. The Japanese pretended to be autonomous under the leadership of Prince ITO when they learned that the populace was against them, but they were duped. The conflict around the Pacific coast shifted against Japan, and the ferocious fighting got even worse.
