Watch Battle of Britain
(1969)Battle of Britain tells that during the early 1940s, Baron von Rikten proposed a peaceful solution to the impending German invasion of Britain to British Ambassador Kelly. However, Kelly declined and declared that Britain would fight until the end. Following their heavy losses in the Battle of France, Britain was in a precarious position, with only 780 artillery pieces, 160 anti-tank guns, and 200 tanks remaining on the mainland. Additionally, the air force lost 1,000 planes and 435 experienced pilots. Air Chief Marshal Dowding acknowledged the imminent threat of a major war and the need for more planes and pilots. Eventually, Churchill announced the commencement of the Battle of Britain.
