Watch Bojangles
(2001)The career story of Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, the African-American tap dancing star of his time on stage and screen. in 1916, Robinson was an accomplished vaudeville entertainer and considered the best tap dancer of his generation. In his career, he was the highest paid black entertainer, but in spite all the joy he brought to others, he did not live a happy life, and he had many tragedies of his own. He died penniless and penniless. As a compulsive gambler and womanizer, he lived a life fairly close to that of a happy train wreck. He danced professionally until he passed the age of 65, still suffering from heart disease, and died at 71. In his heyday, he was the highest paid black performer, and he was the black dancer in the early Shirley Temple movies. The real highlight for me, however, was the film's 1 hour and 16 minutes, when the new kid, played by Savion Glover, does a move that dazzles Bojangles, and then they do a move together in a loud nightclub. The whole scene and all the banging only lasted about 3 minutes, but it was a great 3 minutes.
