Watch For All Mankind
(1989)For All Mankind provides a comprehensive portrayal of the Apollo missions in under two hours, perhaps more so than any other film. Al Reinert meticulously reviewed all 6,000,000 feet of footage captured during the missions and selected the most compelling moments. Rather than presenting a news-oriented, information-heavy documentary, Reinart emphasizes the human aspects of space missions. The film solely features the astronauts' voices and mission control, as Reinart utilizes interviews and mission footage to relay the astronauts' own words. Brian Eno's score enhances the otherworldly, awe-inspiring, and beautiful experiences of the astronauts, which they were fortunate to have encountered "for all mankind" during their inaugural space travels.
