Watch Hunger
(2008)Hunger tells that Bobby Sands, leader of the Irish Republican Army (IRA), is arrested for leading protests against the authorities. Even in Maze Prison, he refuses to give up the fight. Confined to six-square-meter cells, the Republican prisoners refuse to wear prison uniforms as a protest against the rights-stripping orders of Prime Minister Thatcher. They use dirty food and excrement to cover the communication channels under their cell doors, exchanging messages. Through a smuggled radio, the prisoners stay informed about the ongoing struggle between the IRA and the British government. Eventually, when Sands decides to engage in a hunger strike, he engages in a powerful debate with Father Dominic Moran, but the outcome proves futile.
