synopsis

Kinky Boots primarily tells the story of Charlie Price, who grew up in the family shoe-making business with his father but never imagined himself taking over the business. However, his father's untimely death leaves him feeling disconnected, and he learns that Price and Sons Shoes aren't doing well financially. Charlie becomes desperate after failing to save the business, but he accidentally encounters the flamboyant drag queen cabaret singer, Lola. She complains about the unsuitable shoes she wears for work, and with the suggestion from Charlie's former employee, Lauren, she helps save the business by manufacturing men's fetish shoes. Charlie convinces Lola to become their shoe designer, and the transition begins. Now, this group of vastly different people must struggle with the unorthodox idea while dealing with prejudice from the staff, Lola's discomfort in the small town, and Charlie's greedy and self-serving fiancée, who can't see the greater good of Charlie's dreams.
