synopsis

David "Noodles" Aaronson, a former gangster, returns to Manhattan after years of self-imposed exile, haunted by memories of his childhood friends Max, Patsy, and Cockeye. He is now penniless and consumed by guilt. Seeking closure on his past, he reunites with his only living friend, Fat Moe. However, his sense of responsibility and an old suitcase complicate matters. Noodles remembers his life of over fifty years, full of love, death, and tragedy, which leads to more questions he cannot answer. With nothing left, Noodles must confront his difficult choices.
