synopsis

Coach Roy was once a mastermind in college basketball. However, he has recently been more concentrated on securing endorsements rather than on winning games. His temper has also caused trouble, leading to a ban from college ball until he can learn to control his outbursts. Roy waits for a coaching offer that is suitable, but his only option is to coach the Mount Vernon Junior High School Smelters basketball squad. Reluctantly accepting the offer, Roy hopes to prove his good intentions and return to his high-profile life as a college coach. However, the transition to coaching middle school proves to be a challenge. It is only when Roy decides to teach the basics of passing, rebounding, dribbling, and scoring that the Smelters begin to succeed, and Roy rediscovers his love for the game.
