synopsis

Saving Face tells that Wil, a brilliant Chinese-American lesbian surgeon living in Manhattan, is taken aback when her 48-year-old widow mother, Ma, suddenly shows up at her doorstep. Ma was banished from Flushing, Queens after her father discovered her pregnancy. Wil's personal life is disrupted by her mother's arrival, especially since she is in love with her boss's daughter, dancer Vivian Shing. Wil's grandfather had promised that Ma would only return to Flushing if she got married or could prove her pregnancy was immaculate. To fulfill her grandfather's condition, Wil sets out to find a Chinese bachelor to marry Ma.
