Watch Silence
(2016)Silence primarily tells the story of devout Portuguese Catholic priests Sebastião Rodrigues and Francisco Garupe, who, in 1633, set out on a journey to Japan to investigate the truth behind the sudden silence of their mentor, Father Cristovão Ferreira. Despite rumors that Ferreira had apostatized, the zealous Jesuit missionaries attempt to find their mentor in the midst of violent anti-Christian purges. Upon arriving in Japan with their Japanese guide Kichijiro, the two witness the unbearable burden placed upon those of different faiths living on the traditional soil. Now - with the powerful Inoue subjecting brave Japanese Christians to horrific torture - Father Rodrigues will soon have to face his faith's ultimate test: to abandon it in exchange for prisoners' lives.
