Watch The Fighting 69th
(1940)A World War I unit called Fighting 69th was mostly made up of Irish soldiers from New York. Perhaps the crew's most arrogant member was the feisty, self-centered Jerry Plunkett. Plunkett resists attempts by the officers and NCOs in the regiment to enforce discipline on him, and Father Duffy, the priest, makes valiant efforts to persuade Plunkett to see the bigger picture. Plunkett behaved selfishly and cowardly in the trenches or behind the lines, which led to the deaths of several of his teammates. Even if a final act of cowardice has dreadful implications, Plunkett sees it as a chance to make amends—as long as he can.
