synopsis

US Army Staff Sergeant Will Montgomery is recovering from injuries sustained in Iraq, where an IED detonated near him. He's resumed a physical relationship with his ex-girlfriend Kelly, who is engaged to another man. As Will nears the end of his enlistment, he's assigned to the Casualty Notification Team, a job he feels unprepared for. Will is partnered with Captain Tony Stone, who teaches him the protocol for notifying families of the death of a loved one. The job is emotionally challenging, and Will struggles to connect with the grieving families until he meets Olivia Pitterson. However, his growing interest in her may not be appropriate. Tony, a recovering alcoholic, does his best to guide Will through the difficult job.
