synopsis

The Player tells that as a film studio executive, Griffin Mill has the task of selecting only a few scripts from countless others to turn into movies. Lately, he's been going through a rough patch. First, he faces intense competition from Larry Levy. Then, he starts receiving anonymous threatening letters, leaving him restless and anxious. He suspects that one of the rejected screenwriters may be behind it all. He focuses his suspicion on a writer named David Kahane and tracks him down at a movie theater, eventually bringing him to a bar. The encounter escalates into a heated argument and even a physical fight in a parking lot. During the altercation, David accidentally falls into a sewer and dies. Griffin is left with no choice but to stage it as a robbery gone wrong. As the last person seen with David, Griffin becomes a suspect in the eyes of the police. To make matters worse, he continues to receive anonymous threats and even discovers a snake in his car. Now, Griffin must figure out how to navigate this dangerous game.
