synopsis

Teenager Nigel Slater's mother was never a good chef, not even for a simple soup, and the most frequent food for the family was toast. When his mother dies of an asthma attack, his father has to replace it with canned food. Later, the cleaning lady, who was a good cook, took advantage of his stomach and became his stepmother. The increasing hatred led Nigel to take a home economics course, learning to make all kinds of sweets to challenge his stepmother, who was an excellent cook. The father has to endure constant bickering between the two and is forced to eat the endless desserts that the two make one after another every day. At the age of 17, Nigel packs his bags, finds a job in the kitchen, and enters the pantheon of superb cooks!
