Each movie is basically an individual story, but there are subtle connections among them.
The first Fast & Furious film was released in June 2011. The sequence of the eight films is not simply 12345678, because in the third Fast & Furious film, Han dies. In fact, the timelines of the fourth, fifth and sixth films all take place before the third. Han dies again in the sixth film, thus connecting the plot of the third and seventh films.
